Grandparents Get Paid Sick Leave Too

Governor Jerry Brown changed the rules on paid sick leave, and grandparents are one of the beneficiaries of these changes.  Effective July 1, 2015, grandparents will be considered "family members" of their wards, and qualify for paid sick leave under California's Paid Sick Leave Law.

Today more than ever, grandparents have stepped up and become guardians of their grandchildren.  Yet until this year grandparents were not able to take advantage of the Paid Sick Leave Law, until Governor Brown expanded the definition of family members to include "grandparents" as a category.

More information on these changes, which will benefit all working grandparents who act as guardians, can be found here.  You may also contact my office at 951 276 0500 should you have any further questions about this change, or any other questions involving guardianships in California.
